12 plants are on forced outage on June 2026, 3 plants are on forced outage since May 2026, 1 plant since September 2025, and 2 plants since 2024, while 33 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 1,259.9MW unavailable to the grid.
Factor/s that contributed to the declaration of Yellow Alert:
1. Tripping of GNPK 4
2. Large capacity coal plants namely SEC 1, SEC 2, SMC 1 and SMC 2 still on forced outage as affected by the recent high magnitude earthquake
3. Unavailability of FDC 3 due to boiler tube leak
4. High demand forecast
A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
