DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Ayala Group, through its social infrastructure platform Alagang Ayala, is engaging with key stakeholders in Mindanao to explore opportunities for collaboration in health, education, and sustainability that uplift communities and improve
lives.
During the Mindanao Development Authority’s Wednesdays Media Forum with Business Writers and Correspondents, Ayala Corporation Chief Social Infrastructure Officer Paolo F. Borromeo introduced Alagang Ayala , which brings together key businesses and platforms across AC Health, iPeople, Ayala Foundation, and Ayala Sustainability to support the Group’s broader effort to strengthen human capital and contribute to long -term national progress.
Joining Borromeo at the forum were Ayala Foundation President Tony Lambino and We Are Ayala Business Club Chairman James Lopez , who shared perspectives on advancing education, human capital development, and community partnerships in Mindanao.
Borromeo said Ayala is broadening its engagement with local governments nationwide, recognizing their critical role in identifying needs on the ground and helping scale programs that bring services closer to communities.
“Mindanao stands out for its potential , talent, and scale, and for the opportunities it offers for collaboration across sectors. Through Alagang Ayala, we hope to help bring programs that matter closer to communities and support efforts that create lasting impact on the ground,”
Borromeo said .
In June, Ayala Foundation led the Ayala Group’s relief efforts, supporting operations that benefited more than 11,000 individuals in communities affected by the earthquake in South Cotabato and Sarangani. The Foundation is also implementing Globe Telecom’s Hapag Movement in Lamitan , Basilan, to help improve the nutrition of 500 young learners and their families. In addition, the Group has been exploring opportunities to support the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
This month Alagang Ayala is supporting Kadayawan in Davao with a series of activities to engage local stakeholders .
Among the Alagang Ayala initiatives was an upskilling session on August 8 that equipped 200 practicing and aspiring journalists in the Davao region with essential AI tools and digital competencies. In collaboration with local partners, the Ayala Foundation led th is training to help journalists adapt to emerging technologies, strengthen responsible reporting, and remain effective in an increasingly AI -driven information
environment.
The Foundation is also set to hold its first Designer Holiday Bazaar outside Metro Manila, with proceeds benefiting students in Davao. Efforts are also underway to bring the Foundation’s flagship CENTEX education program to the city.
AC Health , through Gener ika Dru gst ore and the Health way Medi cal Net work, also supported the Alagang Ayala launch with a Wellness Caravan at Magsaysay Park , where Davaoeños received free medical consultations and medicines and participated in a community fitness
activity as part of a broader health and wellness program.
The broader Ayala Group also took part in the Kadayawan festivities, with Ayala Land, BPI , Globe, GCash, and ACMobility joining Davaoeños in celebrating the city’s heritage, creativity, and vibrant community spirit.
