IN Unilever Foodsolutions’ quest to support this movement, it has launched its newest Sooo Pinoy campaign. For so long, the company has always featured the grandeur of Western cuisine and the greatness of the Eastern. However, Filipino cuisine promotion was not yet done. This, being the first, is dedicated to enhance what is already good in Filipino cuisine through modern ingredients as the latter is the content of the menu in most restaurants in the country. Further, it aims to give a variation to the usual preparation of most Filipino dishes by using the three newest products in its portfolio namely Bango Kecap Manis, Knorr Lime Powder and the new Knorr Oyster Sauce. What is great about the products is that all are Halal certified. With this, aside from the more health-conscious way of manufacturing the products, these are more relevant in becoming an essential ingredient in most Filipino dishes especially in Mindanao. Bango Kecap manis, the modern grilling and dipping sauce can make a twist in adobo. Knorr Lime powder being the modern calamansi creates a different kick in kinilaw and the new Knorr Oyster sauce which has sweet taste profile that makes it more Filipino gives a refined taste in Pansit specialties. Foodservice establishments will benefit in return by fine-tuning their common Filipino specialty and be different from its competitor through this.
This advocacy is implemented by Unilever Foodsolutions in partnership with Department of Tourism and Philippine Daily Inquirer and soon with The Edge Davao for Mindanao’s Best Cuisine. For the whole period of the promotion, top ten dishes from restaurants all over the country will be selected and nominated to be featured as the best in the country through a placement in the Philippine Daily Inquirer and for the Mindanao Search with the Edge Davao. The program will culminate in the declaration of the National Filipino Dish which will eventually be featured in the Philippine Historic Committee as it has never been featured nor declared before. On top of that, a directory of the declared best Filipino restaurants will be collated and published by Unilever Foodsolutions as a part of its role in supporting the country’s tourism.
It is indeed remarkable to preserve, stand firm and be proud of tatak-Pinoy!
