Sparkling wine night rocks Chico’s Bar

by Lorie Ann A. Cascaro

LAST April 14, Chico’s Jazz Samba Bar at Rizal Extension Street held a free tasting of Alberto Sebastianelli’s sparkling wines. Between red and white wines, a sparkling wine with one’s choice of flavor simply brings a natural high. Sparkling wine makes that fizzy taste in your mouth that adds up excitement, said Sebastianelli.
Alberto Sebastianelli, producer of Corte Sant’Arcadio, Pirro Varone and Casa di Grazia wines, said he already did similar wine tasting events and even organized a wine festival in the city. But, “the reason why we’re here is because I believe it’s very important also to let the people try the sparkling wine,” he said.
The bubbling effect of such sparkling wine is due to carbon dioxide caused by natural fermentation either in a bottle or in a large tank designed to withstand the pressures involved. These newly introduced sparkling wines can be found at choice restaurants around Davao City, Sebastianelli said.
Together with his friends Paul Herrington and Peter Jespersen, owners of Chico’s, Sebastianelli plans to host another wine tasting every two weeks in April and May. Wine aficionados can experience the next sparkling wine night at Chico’s bar on April 28.
