Partyphiles are a breed of young and dynamic people. We are often on the go and we manage to somehow balance work with our all time favorite past time: partying. To help us keep up with the stresses of everyday life, we often turn to instant food, some spa services, and some really good party music to make our lives less chaotic. In this issue, I will give you a peek into some of the new favorites I have discovered this summer. Try them all and tell me how you like them.
.) With all the jobs partyphiles take on, it is often quite difficult to stop for a home cooked meal. The easy solution: some fast food. Thank god, Brother’s burger has invaded Davao City as they seem to be the only fast food chain that combines a fairly simple product with some gourmet sensibilities. My new favorites for the summer are the brand-spankin-new sandwiches from Brothers. Try out their Cordon Bleu Sandwich, a gorgeous helping of two crispy chicken breasts, slices of smoked ham and cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato. You have to remember to eat this on an empty stomach though, as it will definitely leave you full to the brim. My other favorite is their new Roast Beef Sandwich which is a generous helping of oven-baked slivers of roast beef topped with crispy onion strips and horseradish sauce, all laid on top of some fresh lettuce and tomatoes, cradled in between a Kaiser bun. This is beefy goodness personified (err…sandwichified?) Visit Brothers Burger at Damosa.
.) Before female partyphiles go out and party, they obviously have to get beautified. However, I have heard that putting too much make-up can sometimes damage the skin; and damaged skin is never a good accessory for any partyphile. If you have sensitive skin, or you just want to take care of your skin while looking pretty, you can check out True Scents and Minerals at Paseo de Legaspi along Legaspi Street . They offer Jane Iredale Cosmetics, the cosmetic line that celebrities are using. These cosmetics are actually purely made from minerals, so it does not harm your skin, while prettifying you. Plus, my female friends swear it feels like you are wearing nothing. Don’t know how to put on make-up? You can join their FACES basic make-up workshops every Saturdays from 2pm to 5pm. Just call them up at 2821751 or drop by their store. Here’s a tip for female partyphiles with boyfriends: their store smells really good and the staff is soo accommodating so your boyfriends and guy friends won’t mind if you take them to this store. I know I didn’t.
.) When partyphiles go out to party we want more than the usual beer, but we want something that is consistent in tastes. This is probably why bottled alcohol mixes are so popular nowadays. One of my favorites is Tanduay Ice. It is a sweet and tangy combination of Triple Sec and a lot of other alcoholic goodness. It actually kinda tastes like Vodka Cruiser Ice, only much, much cheaper. It has five percent alcohol, making it equal most beers we have locally and it does not have a weird after-taste, like that other bottled drink that lists green tea and ginger as some of its ingredients. Tanduay Ice has just the right amount of fizz and it goes down smooth. Unfortunately, this is not served in most bars and watering holes yet but you may find it at 147 Beer Avenue along Legaspi Street.
.) After all the lights have faded, and after all the hard partying, nothing feels better than a massage. After partying, I often go for a massage to de-stress and relax my tired party-muscles. Unfortunately, I find it annoying to have to go out and get dressed to get a massage and then commute or drive back home after the massage. The truth is, after a hard day and a truly relaxing massage, all I want to do is sleep. And now, fortunately, that can come true. Stay N’Touch is a home-service spa that offers all the basic spa services you’d expect from a traditional spa. I know most spas in the city already offer home service massages but they only offer that for double (or almost double) the price. With Stay N’Touch, you get to enjoy all your favorite spa services at a price that is actually equal (or less) than what you would pay if you would actually go to a spa. Plus, you can lay in bed as long as you want without having to think about the person who is next in line. Call Stay N’Touch at 2UNWIND (2869463) to experience a truly relaxing massage today.
.) If you are throwing a house party and want to serve your drinks in a more exciting way, you could always check out partypaddle.com. They offer part paddles for only ten dollars. You could go on and check their store out to learn how to use a party paddle but basically, it is a paddle with a few recessed circles so you could put some shot glasses on them. The concept is simple but it is definitely novel. Plus, it looks like a lot of fun, especially if you like playing with paddles.
