Music and a drinking spree on the beach can be one of the most elating moments for any compulsive partygoer. But who would not want to make it more exhilarating with fire dancing and flair bartending? This could only happen at the Bluejaz Beach Resort & Waterparks in Caliclic, Babak, Island Garden City of Samal.
That beach party at Bluejaz last June 26 was not just a mere show of fire dancing and bartending, but a competition among enthusiastic youth from various places aside from the Davao region. There were contestants in the fire dance who came from General Santos City and Palawan. Their unique choreography in playing with the fire poi, a Maori word, usually a pair of chains with a Kevlar wick ball on the ends which they swung round and round in the air creating spectacular glowing images captured by digital cameras.
Right after the fire dance contest came the flair bartending contest. The judges had to brace themselves from getting drunk as they consumed 21 different concoctions created by the contestants. Even Ms Jazmin Middleton, the resort owner, tasted them all 21 and still kept her poise.
Ms Middleton said they regularly hold events on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Aside from the waterslide, zip line and infinity pool that visitors can enjoy, other events held at the resort, such as battle of the bands, concerts involving mainstream bands, and mascot shows for kids on Sundays.
On July 24, it is expected that Bluejaz will be hosting not only beach party lovers, but also music band fanatics as the most requested band, Grin Department, and Davao’s popular standup comedians Abhet and Reggie, take the spotlight on Saturday night. See you there!
