Dabawenyos love to eat and party specially during a festival and any time they feel like having a great time. Some prefer to change while some reminisce the good ‘ol days.
Marco Polo Davao’s Lotus Court recently unveiled its new look and menu much to the delight of its regular patrons. Gone are the outdated interiors and smallish Jade Rooms. In their stead is a spanking new interior with rich and modern details greeted guests. The Jade Rooms are now bigger and can now accommodate even more guests with ease and style.
Already a favorite chill-out place for Davao’s urbanites in-the-know, the decades old Recuerdo Function Hall, meanwhile, played host to Smart Infinity’s Retro Party. Disco grooves reverberated and made the Legaspi Compound pulse with an urban vibe reminiscent of the structure’s heyday, many thanks to the tasteful beats by DJ Gary Tomas.
Since we have old spaces transformed into new spaces, and old spaces keeping old spaces, why not also include new spaces keeping classic grooves? That is what Fat Booby’s is all about.
Staying clear from current dance tracks and noisy techno beats, Fat Bobby’s keeps the disco groove alive. Many thanks in part to Davao’s baby boomer generation who love to party and take every opportunity to let their hair down. Given that most of the “DJ”s populating the bars of Durianburg are churning out “music” that reminds one of “discorrals” and annoying speakers on bikes that are not only an annoyance, but a pain to dance to and an even bigger pain to listen to, I would gladly pack up my bags and go back in time.
