DBMI, located at Km. 9, Pampanga, Davao City, has 35 employees, including auto mechanics body builders and auto painters. In attaining success, DBMI became the authorized service center for all Hyundai vehicles sold in Southern Mindanao.
During its 45th anniversary celebration last October 10, David Ross F. Bonifacio, chief executive officer, motivated its workforce to move forward and aim for further growth and improvement. It was a fellowship of workers, business clients and partners in business, including auto insurance, loans and bank officials.
DBMI continues to envision itself becoming the premier automotive service company in the region by being committed to the motoring public and the community and serving with utmost excellence while meeting the changing needs of individuals and its own families.
A consistent awardee of the Department of Trade and Industry Certified Establishment (DTI-CE) Silver Seal since 2006 for its unwavering support of the objectives of the DTI-CE program, DBMI aims to win the Gold Seal award next year. Perfecting its performance based on international standards, it has constantly improved its quality management system and customer service while adhering to the latest state-of-the-art technology.
Looking back
DBMI started its operation in Davao City on October 10, 1965 as branch auto repair shop of Bonifacio Motors, Inc., country located at EDSA, Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. It was one of the forerunners in the automotive industry in the country.
Although its first few years of operations had gone through hardships, the eldest of the Bonifacio family, Rosauro R. Bonifacio, overcame the challenges of the business. He became the sole proprietor of the shop in 1970.
As the company grew, Bonifacio registered it as a corporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Davao City as Davao Bonifacio Motors, Inc. (DBMI).
Dr. David Ross F. Bonifacio, manages the company today with vigor, strength, inspiration and commitment to continue whatever his father had started.
DBMI continues to grow as new sales records are set year after year. Its main clientele are the multinational companies and big agricultural plantations operating in Mindanao, among them: the PPI Del Monte (Phils), San Miguel Foods, Dole Stanfilco and some pharmaceutical companies.
Since the company is specializing in body collision and modification, it is also servicing most of the renowned non-life insurance companies in its accidental body collision needs. In most instances, the insurance companies are spared from getting a brand new vehicle in replacement of a heavily damaged one because this company has the ability to restore the damaged vehicle back to its original condition at a reasonable cost.
In 1999, DBMI entered into a dealership agreement with GM Cars, Inc. through its dealer in Cebu. This gave the Shop an opportunity to upgrade the skills of its technicians by availing of the series of trainings and seminars conducted by the manufacturer’s trainors. This also gave the shop a chance to be elevated to a five-star category.
Again, in 2003, the Shop got a better deal from Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI). This time it got the exclusive dealership of all Hyundai motor vehicles throughout Southern Mindanao. This further increases its sales volume since it now services all Hyundai units running on the streets and highways of Mindanao.
Skills upgrading of technicians through constant education provided by HARI has given the Shop a big boost in the car repairing and maintenance business. Apart from sharing the new technology, HARI is aiding the Shop in the acquisition of modern equipment for precise diagnosis of car defects, thereby providing car owners with a more efficient and economical maintenance service.
DBMI is a one-stop auto repair shop specializing in real oven-baked auto painting using the most modern USI Italia Paint Booth; body collision repair using the state-of-the-art EZ LINER; body building and auto modification and body restoration; engine repair and maintenance services using the latest computerized engine analyzer; computerized wheel alignment and wheel balancing; upholstery and seat cover repair; car tinting; undercoating and other car care services for all types and brand of vehicles; engine tune-up; quick change oil and greasing; engine overhauling; complete auto detailing (interior and exterior); and air-condition and electrical repair.
