Durianburg’s music lovers and museum patrons were treated to an evening of musical enchantment last October 16 when they attended “Museo Musika: An Evening of Rhapsody”, a classical musical extravaganza organized by the Davao Museum and held at the spanking new Grand Ballroom of the Pinnacle Hotel.
Museo Musika featured soprano Nenen Espina, violinist Gina Medina, pianists Daphne Cabaguio Jocson and Mary Anne Espina. All the artists are certified, world-class Filipino classical musicians with various local and international accolades and prizes under their belts.
The all-woman ensemble serenaded the enthralled audience with musical pieces by Piazzolla, Rachmaninoff, Kreizler and Vallejo but the most applauded pieces were the pieces done by local composers Abelardo, Consolacion II and Suarez, whose pieces truly touched the hearts of the audience and imparted a sense of awe and pride for local talent.
The proceeds from Museo Musika will help raise funds for the benefit of the Davao Museum of History and Ethnography in Insular Village I, Lanang Davao City. Now on its 36th year, Davao Museum continues to promote awareness and appreciation of Mindanao culture and the arts and beyond through its changing exhibits, lectures, and other activities.
Also in-line with Museo Musika, the Davao Museum exhibited “Babae, Babayi, Bayani: Filipino Women Redefining Heroism” at the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites lobby. The exhibit featured images and the lives of Filipino women who have made significant contributions to Filipino society.
Museo Musika is presented by Davao Museum Foundation, Incorporated in cooperation with the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites. Touted as the “green hotel”, the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites is the first high-rise building in Mindanao to implement an environmentally-sound structure design.
And it is on this high note that I bit everyone adieu and see you next week.
