December is the time when the family comes together to share precious time to celebrate and cherish good memories. And like a family reunion, the University of the Philippines Alumni Association Davao Chapter’s Pasiklaban 2010 at the CAP Auditorium was an event for the UP alumni to come together and have a party alongside the current crop of UP Mindanao “iskolars”.
Pasiklaban gave the students of the university a chance to unite and showcase their talents, whether it be in singing, dancing, acting and even stand up comedy, all adhering to the competition’s theme of “Maligaya ang Pasko”(Christmas is Happiness). This year saw five competing groups with the Muniting Baca ni Oble winning second place and Php10,000 and the UP Sigma Beta Sorority and UP Beta Sigma Fraternity Association taking home the grand prize of Php15,000 in cash.
To borrow words from UPAA -Davao president Dr. Doris Tagle-Villagreal, “Let us not sit back and stay in our contort zones.” Pasiklaban challenged the students to be more creative, to break free from their own comfort zones and to shine.
Many thanks also to the UP Mindanao Foundation Inc., Deca Homes and Wakeboard Park, Allado Construction, Mr. Sonny Puyod, Dole Stanfilco, Tanduay Distillers and Ginebra San Miguel whom all supported the event. Special Mention also goes to San Miguel Corporation for the after-event street party.
