Confessions of a Partyhphile – How do you party?

by Zhaun Ortega

The partyphile lifestyle is one that includes a lot of different sub-lifestyles. There are the occasional party-goers, there are partyphiles who only go out when there is something to celebrate (although I always argue that everyday is a holiday), there are partyphiles who choose to stay at home and hang out with their friends (this is usually the choice for boozers who want to drink past two in the morning), there are partyphiles who go out when they are super stressed, ad then there are those who party every week just because it is something that they enjoy doing.
The lifestyle a partyphile applies or succumbs to matters greatly when it comes to how s/he is seen in Partylandia. Of course a person’s breeding, name, demeanor, and more importantly, chutzpah, also dictate how they are received in the party scene. Why does this matter? When does this matter? And why do I even care about writing about this?
Well, because I have run out of topics to write about. Also, it is a fascinating experience to watch partyphiles and understand, just by looking at the way they move, dress, and interact with each other, what type of a partyphile they are. The clues are simple, but only a trained eye could understand the intricacies of partyphile sub-lifestyles.
For example, a guy who comes in rubber (basketball) shoes does not party much. If he did, he would have realized by now that there aren’t any hoops in Starr or Republiq.
In contrast, a guy who walks with both hands in the air (that wave like he just don’t care?) while acknowledging the presence of everyone by nodding to random people the whole time obviously parties a lot. He knows everybody in the club. He thinks he’s all that. He would pick a girl up whenever the opportunity arises. He’s there to hag out with his friends. More importantly, he is broke. Why? Because he parties a lot. How do I know he’s broke? Because if he could actually afford a drink, he would be holding one instead of putting his hands in the air to announce his arrival. This guy should be looking out for the old shark.
Also known as a DOM, an old shark (who is always looking for prey) enjoys partying with younger men who are just as dirty as they are. They love spending money on stupid things; so buying booze for the guy who can’t afford one would seem like something an old shark would do. He just might be the best bet for women who are broke as well. How do you spot an old shark? Well, the wrinkles and oversized gold bracelet (with matching college ring) should be tell-tale signs. They hit the bar earlier, enjoy naughty quips, and enjoying giving random people drinks.
So, again, why would you need to know this? Because if you want to be an ultimate partyphile, you would have to understand how all these people act; what their preferences are; what they like to hear; what their activities in the bar are; and their intentions for going clubbing. Partying is all about politics. If you want to get the best party experience, it isn’t enough that you give a huge tip to the wait staff; befriending everyone who frequents the bars is a must. This would ensure that you would have GV (good vibes) for the rest of your party life. And isn’t that party bliss?
