Essential spaces, sustainable design: The urban sanctuaries of the Wood Lane Residences

Cozy, bright, breezy, simple, modern, elegant, functional, green, tranquil, exclusive, restful.

Anyone planning to acquire a new place of residence comes up with a list of how they perceive their future home to be. They can be very meticulous, after all, who doesn’t seek perfection in the creation of their dream house?

While others go through the long, tedious process of building a home, others are luckier in their quest, most especially if they know where and whom to turn to- ALSONS Properties.

ALSONS Properties is not only a trusted community developer, they have taken their reliable services a notch higher. Within the ideal living niches they create are masterfully designed theme houses that epitomize “the dream home” awaiting its discerning residents.

Such is true with their latest project. Within the exclusive “77 residents only” enclave of Wood Lane will rise the WOOD LANE RESIDENCES. Commissioned Architect Leo P. Pariñas of the LPPA Design Group worked within the concept of “green living” and most importantly, comfort of its residents as priorities, and designed a well-planned Asian Tropical urban refuge.

The architect talks about designing and building the Wood Lane Residences.

“The Wood Lane Residences was conceived to merge sustainability with elegance and pleasing sense of space. This cozy two-storey house reflects a contemporary character with Asian appeal. It offers urban dwellers a sanctuary to live and embrace nature by making landscape as natural extensions of the house.

The well-planned unit layouts bring an expansive feel of a relaxing home — an interior environment that is comfortable to the occupants and enhances day- to-day living. The house design maximizes the viewing experience of the natural environment and connection to the outdoors with its large corner windows. Simple play of lines reflects a contemporary flavor. Wall surfaces are textured using articulations and reveals with simple architectural details blended with warm palette of colors and finishes brings an ambiance of elegance and infuses a relaxing environment. The look is contemporary yet Asian.

An important design criterion lay in creating a livable, tropical residential space by integrating sustainable design features into the house to respond to the climatic conditions and to take advantage of the natural elements and at the same time improve the living condition of the occupants. Generous windows and jalousies allow passive cooling and optimize natural ventilation and daylighting. Fin walls are provided that would act as wind scoop to catch the prevailing winds and direct the air flow towards the house. Significant reduction in water usage is achieved through rainwater collection for washing and irrigation. Wide overhanging roof eaves provide shading to windows and walls helping cut down on heat transfer into the house during the day and low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) paints are used to improve indoor air quality.

From the street, this contemporary Asian- inspired house captures the simplicity of its setting and conveys a comfortable and delightful experience yet, sustainable.”
