Ok. Here’s the truth. I just came back from a five day vacation and had to organize the Confessions of a Partyphile Anniversary Party which will happen this Saturday, July 30 (of course this will get published a week after the party, so that’s last Saturday for you) in a flurry. Obviously, I do not have much time on my hands and thus have forgotten to write an article for my beloved newspaper column. And then, another columnist from another newspaper messaged me on Facebook to ask for an interview about Confessions of a Partyphile. That got me thinking. I have featured so many people on my column but have never shared my personal likes and dislikes with you, my dear partyphile reader. So that is exactly what I’ll be doing in this article. I know, I know. It is terribly narcissistic. So why am I still doing it? Because I can. I’m kidding… of course. I am actually hoping that you find this article useful. Think of this as a collection of referrals and tips from a close friend. And maybe you’d read something unfamiliar and decide to try out after reading this. So here’s my profile (ala slum book):

Favorite Cocktail: The Golden Apple Pie. It’s made with one shot of Goldschlager (Cinnamon Schnapps with 24 Karat Gold Flakes) and store-bought Apple Juice
Favorite Alcohol: Vodka! Good Vodka is supposed to be tasteless, making it combine with anything really, really well.
Favorite Beer: For imported beers, I go for Desperados because it’s sweet. I don’t really enjoy strong beers. For local beers, I go for Coors Light, because it is crisp and extra light.
Favorite Pulutan: A plate of well-seasoned, sizzling hot sisig. I also like the Dinakdakan (a dish made with onions, local lemons, pig’s cheeks, and pig brains) they serve at Goat’s Eye in MTS.
Favorite Drinking Place: Casa de Amigos for their Bottomless Beer from 5 PM to 8 PM everyday for only 150 bucks. I also frequent 147 Beer Avenue because the staff is accommodating ad really friendly.
Favorite Party Get-up: Black, long-sleeved polo, jeans, and sneakers. A lot of bracelets too.
Favorite Local Party Place: I’m not allowed to be biased, but I go to Starr most often.
Favorite Events Organizer: Fishtank Productions because they always bring in new DJ whenever they have events, and their party-themes are unique. They single-handedly revived Davao’s lackluster night life.
Favorite Local DJ: DJ Torch is my favorite because we kind of started out together. We’ve worked together in so many events, and he’s a really fun guy.
Favorite City to Party In: Davao because everything is familiar. If I had to choose another place to party in, it would be Boracay because the party scene there is fun, carefree, and laid-back.
Favorite Party Song: I’m still in love with Alexis Jordan’s Happiness but I also like some new outings like Don’t Wanna Go Home by Jason Derulo because it samples Robin S.’ Show Me Love and Unless We Effin by Clinton Sparks and Akon because it samples Benny Benassi’s uber-catchy Satisfaction.
Party motto: Never believe the saying “arrive when the party has started, and leave before it ends”. I say, party enough to make a party pick-up when you arrive and die-down when you leave. Bring the party with you wherever you go.
All partyphiles have: Attitude! Partyphiles are spunky, confident, gregarious, and gutsy. The combination of these attributes makes them fun, friendly, and irresistible.
When throwing a house party, what is the most important thing to consider? The guest list. Knowing who will attend your party will be and should be the foundation of everything else.
What is one thing partyphiles must never do in a club? Partyphiles never vomit inside the club. It’s equivalent to social suicide in Partylandia. It tells everyone that you do not know how to manage your alcohol, and that you are gross.
What is one thing partyphiles must do in a club? Dance.
What makes a good party partner? Someone who is always available, has the money to party, is fun, and is worth being seen with.
What is the fastest way to climb the social ladder? Do something noteworthy or be extra-good at what you do.
