Grand Regal Hotel joins International World Water Day

Grand Regal Hotel Davao joins the noteworthy event celebrated worldwide, the International World Water Day last March 22, 2015, which focuses attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for sustainable management of freshwater resources. But since the worldwide date of event falls on a Sunday, the Environmental Management Bureau of the Department of Environment & Natural Resources slated the clean-up activity last Friday, March 20.
The selected clean-up venue was at Coaco Beach, Barangay Hizon, Davao City, where private companies were enjoined to send few employees for the synchronized clean-up activities. The Environmental Management Bureau-DENR being a supporter of the international event, is a partner in the “Adopt-An-Estero/Water Body Program, thus, sent invitations the community residing nearby and academe to show support by sending participants. A select team was sent by the hotel who joined the clean-up while a prominent tarpaulin was displayed on the hotel’s façade to raise consciousness of hotel guests and passers-by along the highway.
As prime hospitality provider, Grand Regal Hotel believes in the significance this global awareness advocates of managing our water resources. It is almost impossible to imagine how our daily chores, whether at home or on travel without water. Though comforting to think of water as a renewable resource, but we must be aware what limitless exploitation of a resource can lead to. We are but inhabitants of the blue planet where 326 million trillion gallons of water abound, yet only less than 3% of these is freshwater and it still seem an abundance to wade us through our drinking, washing and bathing in this lifetime. But like all things utilized endlessly in all ways imaginable, might one day become precious by the droplets.
