The year started with a new hybrid of donuts rolling into Davao City’s food scene. Loaded with fillings that are so extra, they got people throwing diets out the window. Since its opening in SM City Davao, TopMop Donuts has been a favorite grab-and-go counter and munch spot among young and old.
Proudly local, TopMop Donuts promises “top made-on-premises” decadence in full regalia of authentic ingredients and flavors. This family-owned dessert line was born out of the culinary dreams of international pastry chef, Arnold Claveria, whose work experience spans 10 years in various cruise kitchens and dining establishments in Australia. Given the opportunity to start a food business in his hometown, he focused his creativity on a product that’s well-loved by his family — donuts.
Aside from composition, flavor and freshness, the chef also put a lot of thought and focus on aesthetics in creating a well-rounded product, so to speak. TopMop’s quirky and classic varieties can also rival some of the more common and commercial brands’ craft collections.
Interesting (and intriguing) to adults is the assortment of donuts concocted with indulgent treats and a mild kick to balance off the sugar. This premier league includes the BB Boomer, Berry Booze, Twix n’ Turn, Coco Loco, Aye! Aye! Sailor Jerry, Frangelicoffee and Tiramisu.
Fluffy on the outside and dreamy on the inside, best sellers, especially among kids, are TopMop’s classic flavors such as Nutella, Reese’s Peanut Butter, Oreo Cream Cheese, Salted Caramel, Belgian Chocolate, and Rocky Road.
Prices for classic donuts start at PHP59 each, while the drunken and glazed donuts are at PHP69 a piece. Boxes of six are also available. TopMop Donuts accepts orders for parties and small gatherings.
