BACK IN BALI

I never expected myself to be back in Bali just after less than four months from my first trip. If you know me, Bali would always be a good idea. I don’t think I’d ever turn down an invitation to go so when I got the invite to come, I immediately booked my flight and prayed for awesome waves.

Awesome waves did come on this trip. Our little tribe stayed in Canggu, in a huge villa for almost two weeks. The funny thing was, we were only supposed to stay for a week, but everybody was having so much fun, especially the kids of the family we were spending time to meet in Bali.

This trip definitely wasn’t planned. I imagined myself to be back in Bali by August or even the end of this year. But when an invitation comes from a client-turned-family with four lovely kids ages seven, five and a two-year-old and a 16-month old—it wouldn’t matter!

We stayed in one huge villa near Batu Bolong Beach called Villa Monalisa. We got our own pool, and it had three huge bedrooms. Every day, I’d wake up earlier than I would usually when I was in my condo. In Bali, the sunrise is a little later than the Philippines, so when you wake up at 6:00am, it’s like 5:00am in the Philippines. I love it!

There’s more time to sleep and do stuff. The sunset is also much later, there’s more day time to get things done like surfing way into the evening. Watching the sunset beyond the beach and eating roasted corn or bonding with the locals.

My daily routine for the past days would be to wake up at 6:00am then head to the beach by 7:00am to do a wave check. Sometimes my friends would message if the waves were great. There was never a day that would go by without me visiting the beach.

This time of the year is cold here as it’s winter in Australia too. I never thought I’d see the day I’d need a spring suit or a wetsuit, but when it’s not sunny in Bali, it was too cold for me to surf. I’d go back to the villa to do some work and surf in the afternoon when the sun is at it’s strongest.

If I didn’t have anything pending for the week or leftover from the other week, I’d just spend the day at the beach. Watching the waves and the surfers—just literally soaking up all the sun and good Bali vibes that I can get. It never gets old, and it never tires me. I hope I never tire of watching that beautiful Bali sunset.
