According to internet sources, hotel is a term used for the first time by the fifth Duke of Devonshire to name a lodging property in London sometime in AD 1760 – isn’t only for sleeping. It is also a place for weddings, birthdays, parties, and events.
With all the necessary preparations – not mentioning the hassles and stress of organizing such occasions – the hotel staff and crew could not do all those things. This is where the support of event organizers, wedding planners, and the like come in.
The Grand Regal Hotel – the newly renovated 4-star hotel nestled in the heart of Davao City – knows this. So much so that it gathered all the event suppliers for a get together recently as a way of thanking them.
Among those who came for the occasion were Genieva Nicole Cerbo (M.A Event Production), Fritzie Cagata (Cagata Events), Jederly Mecares (Luxica Events), Amor May Bandayanon (Events by Ms A), Reuben Mamontayao (RDM Events), Ryan Radin (La Parisan Events/Flora), Lizza Bentinganan (Events by Liz), Lee Beltran (Allure Events Dvo), Jade Polizon (Cameo Events/Flora), and MJ Million (Million Designs & Concepts/Flora).
Also present were Noel Tanza (Golden Touch/Flora), Dion Balofiños (Amakan Designs/Flora), Jong Paguia (Dazzle Events), Vheejay Salonga (Decorative by Janna & Hercs/Flora), Leni Hernandez (EJH Events), Keen Nabor (Keen Nabor Events), Christine Kaindoy (Christine Kaindoy Events), Michelle Villadolid (MAV Events), Wendell Gartes (Floral Pink Designs), Korinne Navarro (K Events), Sandara Aguirre Grollo (Sandara’s Concept), Merry Christy Cabuenas (Cocktails and Dreams), Brian Andrew Moscoso (Grandeur by Brian Andrew Event Stylist/Flora), and Juvy Roilo (Juvy Roilo Events and Organizing Service).
During the gathering, Salonga – who is the president of Davao Events Suppliers Association – reminded everyone that they are the partners of the hotel. “We want our clients happy and satisfied,” he pointed out.
On the same occasion, Jenifer R. Romero – the officer-in-charge of the Davao City Tourism Operations Office – told those who were present that she started her “professional career” at the Grand Regal Hotel.
Through the years, she has maintained relationships with the hotel. “I am very happy with what the hotel is doing,” the city tourism official said.
Romero also encouraged the event suppliers to have the passion in serving their clienteles. “In events industry, passion is the number one priority,” she said, adding that money is also important.
During the occasion, the Grand Regal Hotel also introduced its department heads. They are Domini Sebastian del Rosario, front office manager; Mira D. Ty, sales manager; Melissa Pimentel, human resources manager; Ranel Galbines, chief security and safety officer; Mark Callata, food and beverage supervisor; Gare Abellar, executive chef; Nestor Monge, executive housekeeper; and Engr. Rhod delos Reyes, officer-in-charge of the engineering department.
Also present during the program was Violeta B. Casianan, the general manager of Grand Regal Hotel. Del Rosario hosted the program.
