The emerging Dusit Residence and Hotel Complex, expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2019, is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
Tomas Lorenzo, the president and chief executive officer of Torre Lorenzo Development Corp. said that this is their first project that combines a hotel and a residential complex here in Davao City.
“It is a place that will blend work and leisure seamlessly with the combination of the finest amenities and world-renowned exceptional service that is distinctly Dusit,” said Lorenzo. “We will have a first-class destination that Davao can proudly call its own.”
He said that he brought his technical team to Bangkok for them to be inspired and to see international hotels first hand and in order for them to know how it should look like.
He said the complex intends to bring up the standards of living in Davao City to make it truly an international city. “Davao City is not just a place for the developers to put in their secondary and tertiary brands.”
He clarified the company is not building a condominium but service residence and a five-star hotel.
“Many of the buyers are giving their units as an inventory to the hotel. You have the option to live in it or to turn it over to Dusit to be used as a room for the hotel,” said Lorenzo. The residents who turn over their units while they are away will earn from it.
This is the first luxury five star hotel in the city that will have a total of 346 potential rooms. The hotel alone has 120 rooms but if the owners of the residential units turn over their room to the hotel there will be 226 potential rooms to be added to the hotel.
It is located along JP Laurel, Lanang.
“We are used to giving service apartments because they are meant for people who wants to stay longer in the place, they prefer the atmosphere of home rather than a hotel where they cannot cook, they cannot do anything but sleep or lax so you are serving a different market,” said Evelyn Singson vice chairman and president of Philippine Hoteliers, Inc. (which owns and operates the Dusit franchise in the Philippines)
Meanwhile the topping off ceremony of Dusit Thani was conducted on November 8, Thursday. This event marked the formal completion of the development’s structural phase and the first milestone in the Dusit International and TLDC partnership.
In behalf of the Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte Carpio, Davao City Councilor Avegayle Dalodo-Ortiz graced the event and delivered the mayor’s message. On her message she congratulated Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation and the mayor is thankful for the initiative that would generate jobs for the Davaoeños. She also reminded them that they should not pursue any development in the expense of the environment.
