The Davao City Police Office will be recruiting additional 400 police auxiliaries to help them combat the problem of criminality in the city.
“Lawyer Raul Nadela Jr. has given us the go signal. And Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said that we are now authorized to recruit additional 400 police auxiliary to augment the original 910 police auxiliary,”, PSSUPT Alexander C Tagum, City Director said at the Davao City Police Office on June 5, Tuesday.
He said that the city mayor saw the need to increase the number of police auxiliary because Davao city is a big city and the demand for security forces in downtown area more specifically Sta. Ana, San Pedro, Talomo, Toril and Sasa is high.
“Our beloved city mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio saw the need of support to the police auxiliary and Davao city police because we know that the City Government cannot control the population of our police. And we only rely on what is available human resource provided by the Philippine National Police here in Davao City Police,” he said.
He said that the 1800 police personnel of DCPO is not enough for the 2,444 square kilometer of Davao City and the estimated day time population of the city reaching two million, to include visitors.
“There is a need to heighten the security in the crime prone areas and the public convergence areas,” he said.
The demand of security can also be seen in the social media posts of the citizen of Davao city.
He said that police auxiliary will have allowances coming from the City Government. This also covers the Philhealth.
“We welcome you to join as a member of the police auxiliary of Davao City Police Office so that we can facilitate your application, undergo training and we will provide you equipment, gear and uniform that will come from the office of the city mayor,” he said.
He said that there are already applicants applying since last week and as of now DCPO is conducting background checks to these applicants.
The requirements needed to be part of the police auxiliary are the following: the applicant must be at least high school graduate, no criminal record, should pass the neuro-examination and should be resident of Davao city.
