UM bags PMAP 2018 employer of year plum

The University of Mindanao (UM) bagged the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Employer of Year 2018 for Mindanao, a recognition of the quality managerial practices employed by one of Mindanao’s premier universities.

Reynaldo Castro, VP for external relations and international affairs of UM, said on Wednesday that the PMAP Awards recognizes the outstanding organizations and individuals in the public and private sectors who help in advancing the best personnel and business management practices.

Castro said the winner is selected based on the following criteria: line management and HR partnership, performance focus, leadership approaches, people engagement, and social responsibility.

“The PMAP win means that the university will go on to the nationals where PMAP will determine the country’s top employer of the year. UM will compete with other winners from Luzon, Visayas and NCR,” said Castro.

According to Castro, the awarding ceremony held in Cagayan de Oro last July 21was attended by UM Chief Operating Officer Gloria E. Detoya, as UM President Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr. is representing the university in an educational collaborative engagements with universities in Europe.

The annual PMAP awards have three categories: Employer of the Year, People Manager of the Year, and the People Program of the Year.
