Ateneo de Davao University produced another board topnotcher in the recent 2018 Certified Public Accountants licensure examinations.
Erick Jan Sagot, who graduated with summa cum laude honors, scored an aggregate 91.17% to land 2nd place next to Lahaira Reyes of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila who topped the list with a passing rate of 91.83%.
In an interview, Sagot bared that landing in the top ten was foremost his goal. But with a change of heart, he simply wished to pass the examination which he described as “difficult.”
“I still could not contain my happiness. It was a bittersweet victory for me,” Sagot told Edge Davao.
He credited his alma matter’s Accountancy Program for its extensive and comprehensive mentorship that aimed to produce graduates that will succeed in the corporate world.
“ADDU has equipped me (and my batchmates) with a strong conceptual foundation thatI was able to carry out in my review,” Sagot said.
He also cited his family as his inspiration in his hard work, considering his family is financially hard up. Sagot, the 2018 ADDU class salutatorian, is one of the April 6 graduates of the university. The 2018 Accountancy class produced 44 cum laude graduates–20 magna cum laude, 9 summa cum laude and 15 cum laude.
Sagot was a consistent honor stufdent from elementary and secondary where he finished Valedictorian at the Maryknoll High School of Sto. Tomas in Davao del Norte.
On Tuesday, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) released the October 2018 CPA examination results with 3,616 out of the 14,358 examinees passing the examinations handled by the Board of Accountancy in various cities in the country.
Also making it on the Top 10 list are Patrisha Cordero of Holy Angel University in Angeles City Pampanga with 90.67%, Marc Angelo Sanchez of UST with 90.33%, Charissa Mae Espinola (UST), Juan Miguel Mallare (New Era University) and Kathleen Mae Puno (UST) with 90.17%.
