The Task Force Davao on Tuesday morning intercepted one bus filled with protesters and prevented it from entering the city in one of its checkpoints.
“Earlier this morning they attempted to enter the city but we were able to record the name and plate number of the bus (yesterday) so we were able to stop their entry,” Col. Nolasco Mempin, commander of TF Davao.
He said that all of their forces in check point areas in the entry and exit points in the city are on high alert.
On Monday afternoon a group of rallyists on board six buses from Compostela Valley Province disembarked and blocked the national highway.
This happened at the Task Force Davao checkpoint in Licanan, Bunawan at around 5:15PM while the personnel of TFD and personnel from Bunawan police station were conducting their inspections.
The commotion stopped all the vehicles from the south and north direction in this area causing traffic.
A standstill ensued after the rallyists initially refused to heed the call to clear the highway prompting the commanders of Davao City Police Office, TF Davao and Barangay Chairman of Lasang to give them an ultimatum for them to either clear the highway or face dispersal.
At around 8:30, the rallyists voluntarily left the area ending the stand-off with no untoward incident happened.
