Christmas tree donation okayed

The Davao City Council approved on third and final reading on Tuesday an ordinance authorizing the City Mayor to sign a deed of donation and memorandum of agreement between Yatai International Corporation and the City Government of Davao covering a Christmas tree donation.

The approved ordinance is under the Committee on Rules, Privileges, Laws and Ordinances of Councilor Melchor Quitain Jr..

It mandates that donation must include a steel frame and base, flatbar steel balls, strip lights, LED bulbs, Rubber sockets, and a lighted panaflex signage.

Under the Ordinance, the amended DOD to be entered into by and between the Davao City and Yatai International Corporation relative to the provision of a Christmas tree is in the favor of the city government of Davao.

The ordinance states that “in setting up the Christmas tree, the First Party (Yatai) upon consultation with and consent of the Second Party (City Government), may work with or engage the services of the other parties, whether individuals or corporations, which may aid in the promotion or showcasing local talents.”

“The First Party may suggest a concept for the Christmas tree, but the final decision and approval will be by the Second Party,” the ordinance states.

The deed of donation shall be subject to the terms and conditions of the MOA executed by the City Government of Davao and Yatai International Corporation.
