City Hall, firm ink MOA for Brgy. Lasang housing

A group of private housing developers will partner with the City Government of Davao in providing decent homes through a recently signed memorandum of agreement (MOA) on Friday afternoon.

The MOA entitled the Balai Project will provide housing for residents in Kalayaan Homes in Barangay Lasang, in partnership of the local government, Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) and the Vista Land and its subsidiary, Camella Homes.

Signing the partnership at the City Hall of Davao are Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, Camella Assistant Vice President Neil Angelo Honorico, Camella Legal Counsel Atty. Angela Punzalan, HLURB Commissioner Atty. Lloyd Christopher Lao and Camella Vice President for Tax and Corporate Affairs Cecilia Aragon-Ramilo.

Ramilo said that the project will cover more than 1,000 houses with a total area of 57,784 square meters including the road, drainage and open space facilities. Each housing unit will cover 4.7 hectares.

She said that Vista Land is committed in expensing the land development of the project.

“This is the first project for Vista Land in Davao and we hope to do more partnership projects with the City Government of Davao,” Ramilo said.

She mentioned that mobilization of the construction will start on Monday, with an estimated target of completion after 12-18 months.

Mayor Sara said that the partnership between the local government and business community demonstrates a strong commitment in providing decent homes for Davaoeños.

Housing is one of Duterte’s top priority, as recently mentioned during her State of the City Address early October.

“I am optimistic that this endeavor will not only address shelter problems, but also to other equally relevant society problems and matters in the city,” Duterte said.
