Coops renew call for new, innovative ideas

The 1 Cooperative Insurance System of the Philippines (1CISP) is calling for innovative business ideas for their business pitching dubbed as “Kickstart your Entrepreneurial Journey” program, in a bid to find the next Mark Zuckerberg.

Mark Zuckerberg is an American technology entrepreneur and philanthropist who co-founded the social-networking website Facebook.

Jason Remo of Coop Kickstart, said on Wednesday during the weekly Habi at Kape media forum that aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators will be given a chance to pitch their ideas on cooperative ventures.

Remo said cooperatives here aim to find, fund, incubate and mentor innovative business ideas and entrepreneurs for them to grow and expand.

He added that they urging young start-up entrepreneurs to “pitch” their ideas to the investors in the hope of getting funding and mentorship under the group of cooperatives.

“Pitchers can propose ideas that covers business solutions, products or services that could be useful to the community and cooperatives,” said Remo

Edward Descolta of Coop Kickstart said individuals or team of up to four members coming from Mindanao can join the pitch fest at least 18-35 years old.

Descolta said the winning group or individual will be given P300, 000 incubation assistance for the  start-up business being proposed.

Top 5 proposed business ideas will be also receiving P100, 000 each, Descolta added.

Around 40 teams will be selected and to undergo training on November 9 to 10 and the demo pitching is scheduled on November 31. Then, the grand pitching will be on December 1.

Deadline of the start-up applications will be on October 26 which will be submitted to the Ateneo de Davao University Techno Hub.
