Around 1,000 participants from the five provinces of Region XI joined the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration XI Information Caravan and Membership Promotion Campaign on October 20 at the Atrium, SM Premier, Lanang, Davao City.
Petrona Bergado, OWWA XI regional director, said on Saturday the event is the agency’s pro-active response to increase awareness about the OWWA’s programs and services among Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), their families, and the general public.
“Generally, the activity aims to provide the OFWs, their families, stakeholders and the general public with enabling information relative to overseas employment, including OWWA programs and services, which will mitigate the negative impact of migration on their personal and family lives,” said Bergado.
She added that the caravan also aims to re-introduce OWWA and the people behind the agency, especially the regional officers, to help OFWs and their families feel “closer” and “at ease” with their welfare protectors and assistance providers.
The audience was entertained by known celebrities and home-grown talents while OWWA programs and services will be given highlights for membership enrollment.
Administrator Hans Leo J. Cacdac led OWWA officers from the head office in gracing the event.
