Villar says she’s sticking with Duterte all the way

Sen. Cynthia Villar has denied the report that she and her party-mates Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos and Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano will be abandoning President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

“Bakit na naman iiwanan si President Duterte. (Why are we leaving President Duterte),” Villar said in a sidelined interview during the International Banana Conference at SMX Convention Center here.

This after President Duterte was quoted by reports that the three were going back to their political party, the Nacionalista Party.

“Talaga naman Nacionalista kami and we are in coalition with party of the President (We are really a member of Nacionalista Pary in coalition with the President’s party PDP-Laban),” she said.

Villar said clarified they never left the Nacionalista Party ever since but they made ties with PDP-Laban since Duterte won the presidency.

The incumbent senator said she is even part of the administration’s senatorial line-up along with Marcos and Cayetano for the 2019 mid-term election.
