The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) launched its best practices compendium, which would serve as a bible for local government units (LGUs).
On Monday afternoon, the first publication of Bigkisan: A Compendium on the DILG-Technical Assistance Program for the Local Resource Institutes (LRIs) was formally unveiled.
Bigkisan, a Filipino word which means “bond” is a collaboration project of the LRIs, LGUs, Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) and other civil society organizations that highlights the actions and programs implemented by the government in their respective constituents and how they benefited from it.
“The writers from DILG, along with the LRIs conducted the series of interviews for this book,” said DILG National Project Committee Member Allyn Lopez in an interview.
Lopez also said that through this, other LGUs would replicate these best practices.
“Generally, our goal is to improve the services of our local government units for the benefit of their constituents,” Lopez said.
The recipients of Bigkisan are the different LGUs in the country, including other LRIs who served as the collaborator of the said publication.
“LRIs, especially those from the academic institutions are of big help,” He added, “The local government needs their help to further improve their performances in general.”
As of the moment, DILG and its board will further discuss any plans of circulating another issue in the near future.
The launching of Bigkisan is one of the highlights during the Bigkisan: Engaging Participatory Governance forum at the Grand Regal Hotel, spearheaded by the Bureau of Local Government Supervision of the DILG.
Among the other highlights of the event are the discussion the 2018 results of the Citizen Satisfaction Index System (CSIS) results and implementation issues and the plan out priority activities for 2019 implementation.
