Former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go downplayed the criticisms of netizens for accompanying President Duterte even if he is already resigned. “In my private capacity, nagatabang ko sa iyaha and wala nay sweldo (In my private capacity I am helping the president even if I am not paid),” Go said in an interview with Davao reporters. Go said he assisting Duterte voluntarily because he vowed to be with the president ‘even until death.’
“Di pa mo ana nga nagatabang ko sa presidente bisan walay bayad (You don’t want that? I am helping the president even I am not paid),” he said.
He said he will also continue to help the people especially those who are in need even if he is not already a government official. Go said he could ask his friends from the private sector for contribution to extend assistance especially to the victims of fire and other calamity.
The long-time aide of the president went to victims of fire incident in Times Beach, Davao City were 19 families and 20 individuals were displaced on November 1. Go is being bashed by netizens for being always with the president describing him as ‘epal’ to allegedly boost his senatorial bid in the 2019 mid-term election.
