JCI Davaoeña unveils 4 Nov. advocacy events

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Davaoeña or Daba-Daba Jaycees is organizing a series of activities this November 10 at Abreeza Mall to help its intended beneficiaries and support its advocacies.

Book Your Future, a book-donation drive will happen at Robinsons Abreeza Mall Lobby. The public are encouraged to donate books which will be used in the setting up of libraries in remote rural schools.

“A single book can perhaps change the life of rural children who are the beneficiaries of the project, because these kids they really wanted to learn however they are lacking books and learning materials,” JCI Davaoeña president Barbie Blanco describes their book drive campaign.

Another advocacy of the all-female JCI chapter based in Davao City is reducing the amount of plastics in the environment. Their two activities; Dabapreneurs: Year 2 Good Hair Days and Ground Zero Year 2: Advocacy for Zero Plastic will be launched on November 10 also at the Robinsons Abreeza Mall Lobby.

The Good Hair Days is in partnership with Hair Babe Shampoo Bars, which are made with natural ingredients. The shampoo bars eschew plastic containers commonly used by shampoo brands thus lessening the use of plastics.

The group is also launching its advocacy on zero plastic use which will also be held at the same venue.

On World Photo Day they will be showcasing the works of photographer Benedict Maboloc an awardee in the 2017 Kadayawan photo contest.

The four events will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on November 10.

Aside from their Abreeza Event, the Daba-Daba Jaycees is also conducting a donation drive for the victims of the Barangay Leon Garcia fire. The Oplan Kaagapay hopes to collect donations in the form of food, clothing, medicines and blanket.

The donations can be dropped off at the Davao Grande Medical Foundation, Ground Floor, Barangay Hall of Barangay Wilfredo Aquino at Bolcan Street and at D’Farmers Market at Pryce Business Park. (PIA)
