President Rodrigo R. Duterte is set to distribute the lands in Boracay Island this month. This was bared by his long-time aide and former Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence ‘Bong’ Go in an interview with Davao reporters. Go said the president will give certificates of land ownership award (CLOA) to the qualified beneficiaries in the island maybe on the first week of November. “Makikita niyo na mas priority niya na bigyan ng lupa yung mga mahihirap — binabalik po niya kung sino ba talaga ang may ari ng lupa doon (As you see, his priority is to give lands to the poor — he is just returning the lands who really owned it), he said.
He said Duterte did not go during the reopening of the island after six months of rehabilitation since the president let the concerned secretaries of the concerned departments to grace it last October 26.
“Mas interesado po siyang dumaan dito sa likod at hindi po sa harap ng beach (he is interested to pass at the back portion of the island and not the beach front), he said.
Go said the president is very vocal in his previous speech during the closure of the island that he will declared it as a land reform area.
Duterte it can be recalled said that based on the classification of Boracay Island it is a forestal and agriculture zone.
The president said there is no proclamation of the president, any president for that matter, segregating it as a commercial area. But if the House of Representatives allow a segregation of land classification given the resorts and hotels are already there, the president will abide it.
