The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) is appealing to the public not give gifts to its personnel this Christmas.
In a circular letter released by CENRO acting department head Marivic Reyes, business establishment owners and subdivisions housing units are prohibited from giving gifts or any of its equivalent to its personnel particularly garbage collectors and street sweepers.
CENRO reminded the public to report any violations to police authority for necessary arrest.
They are also reminding the public about individuals using the name of CENRO for unauthorized solicitation.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC), earlier this month, also reminded the public not to give any amount of money or any forms of gift or favor, as it is against the provision of Republic Act No. 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Section 50 (8), Rule 10 of the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the Civil Service (RACCS) states that, “Receiving for personal use of a fee, gift or other valuable thing in the course of official duties or in connection there with when such fee, gift or other valuable thing is given by any person in the hope or expectation of receiving a favor or better treatment than that accorded to other persons, or committing acts punishable under the anti-graft laws.”
Violation of this provision is a grave offense and is punishable by dismissal from the service.
