The Davao City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) announced on Thursday that the online tax payment system is still inaccessible at the moment.
CTO acting head Erwin Alparaque said in a previous report that the first digital payment system in Mindanao will be implemented starting Monday, January 7.
However, Alparaque said that the system had to undergo some technical adjustments.
“Landbank informed us this (Thursday) morning that they had are still doing system adjustment in the central office (in Manila),” he said during the iSpeak press conference at the City Hall of Davao.
“With the DBP (Development Bank of the Philippines), we are still finalizing the memorandum of agreement with the city government,” Alparaque said.
Landbank and DBP are both government accredited depository banks of the city government.
Alparaque assured that the system will run through on or before the end of the month.
The city treasurer said that information disseminations are being conducted to publicly aware the taxpayers about the new payment method.
“We will put up a standee in malls so that the public, especially the business owners will be aware that the city government would start the online payment,” Alparaque said.
The new payment system was introduced to help decongest the long lines in the CTO, located inside the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Meanwhile Alparaque reminded the taxpayers not to wait for the January 31 deadline of the renewal of business permits.
A satellite office is also placed at the Davao City Recreational Center (Almendras Gym) in Quimpo Boulverd to cater more people, from 8AM to 8PM.
