President Rodrigo R. Duterte yesterday declared August 12, 2019, Monday , a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.
The President released the proclamation to allow Filipino Muslim brother to observe and enjoy the Feast of Sacrifice with their families.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos has recommended August 12 to the President as holiday to give the Muslim community enough time to celebrate Eid’l Adha. The celebration will actually start on August 11th Republic Act 9849 which allows the subsequent Monday to be declared a holiday.
Eid’l Adha is a celebration of the willingness of Propher Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ishmael as commanded by Allah which Allah eventually withdraws. It is also one of the most important holidays our Muslim brothers celebrate.
The celebration lasts for four days where the last day marks the end of the annual pilgrimage of Muslims around the globe to Mecca.
