The city government’s Business Bureau Office advised ‘colorum’ tour operators in Davao City to secure business permits following complaints made by the City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO).
Business Bureau Office office-in-charge lawyer Marissa Torentera, during the I-Speak Media Forum held at the City Hall of Davao on Thursday, September 12, said the CTOO have sent their complaints about illegal tour operators who have been arranging/holding travel and tours without securing business permits.
“Naay complaints ang city tourism nga daghan tour operators na walay business permits. Once mag engage ug any type of business dapat jud naay business permits,” Torentera said.
Torentera, however, said their office is empowered to halt any trips or tours arranged by illegal tour operators just like what happened last Friday, September 6 where a certain tour operator got nabbed by the Business Bureau Office together with the CTOO.
The Business Bureau Office has also the authority to file appropriate legal action to violators.
“We will issue first notice for the first offense, then another notice for second offense, and then we will issue a closure order for the third offense. Kung dili gyud gihapon nila tumanon ang closure order, ang next step will be the endorsement of the documents and filing of the necessary case sa City Legal Office,” Torentera explained.
Torentera urged consumers/travelers to cooperate through asking official receipts from travel and tours operators.
“Dako kaayog tabang ang mga buyers kay pag mangayo silag receipt, mapugos ning mga illegal operators nga magkuha ug business permits,” the Business Bureau official said.
Torentera advised travel and tours operators without permits to visit Davao City’s BOSS which stands for Business One Stop Shop located at the ground floor of Sanguniang Panglungsod where they can secure all the legal permits needed to make their business legitimate.
