ComVal builds schools for Salugpongan students

The Provincial Government of Compostela Valley is building schools to ensure that affected students of the closure of the Salugpongan schools in Davao Region will continue their schooling.

In a statement, Governor Jayvee Tyrone Uy said they find no problem in the decision of the Department of Education XI (DepEd XI) to close down Salugpongnn schools in Davao  Region.

He said there is a need to ensure that the former students of the Salugpongan schools will continue their education.

“We are now building better schools in the affected communitues,” he said.

The province already turned over new schools for Sitio Bongloy in Pagsabangan, New Bataan. Purok 3 in Panansalan. Compostela. Sitio Sapang Lubog in Pantukan and Sitio Puti Bato in Ngan, Compostela.

Uy added that new schools are set to be turned- over for Side 4. Mangayon, Compostela and Sitio Danauan in Munurigao, New Bataan, the farthest sitio in the province. The schools were funded by a private sector and that volunteers help for the constructions of the schools.

“Because of all these efforts, we are optimistic that sooner. sludents can go to better schools. their Iives restored to normalcy and our communities attaining just and lasting peace,” he said.

The provincial government has concurred with the reasons cited by DepEd which include the non-compliance of the Salugpongan schools to the basic education curriculum, material misrepresentation, and the failure of these schools to secure Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC).

On Monday, the regional office of the Department of Education has ordered for the closure of Salugpongan schools in Davao Region after the fact-finding committee found substantial evidence that led to the order of closure.
