With some parts of Davao now rideable through bike lanes, keeping bikers on the dedicated lanes is still a challenge as not all bikers are using them.
Dionisio Abude Jr., chief of the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) reminded cyclists to know their responsibilities while using the bike lanes.

“Kulang pa ta kaayo paghatag ug information ug education mahitungod sa pag-gamit sa bike lane. Kay kung na inform na sila (cyclists) tanan naa man ta mga brochure na gina-himo ma-inform na sila na dapat dili sila mu-counter, dapat bisan naay open na side mu-stay sila sa ilang lane kay wala man ta kabalo kay naa man mga sakyanan. Daghan pa kaayo ang wala nakabalo,” Abude said.
The city government of Davao has reminded bicycle riders to follow the safety standards provided in the Bicycle Ordinance and Traffic Code of Davao whenever they use the bicycle lanes which includes the wearing of helmet, headgear, or protective head covering and use of reflectors, headlights, rear lights, or any warning device that must be attached to the bicycle or on the rider for their protection at night.
Abude also called on motorists not to to drive or park on the bike lanes for the safety of bikers.
“Dili lang sa mga cyclist even the motorists dapat i-respeto nila ang bike lane ug ang cyclist. Bicycle is a vehicle dapat ang motorist mu-respeto ang bike lane ug dili nila himoong parking,” he said.
