Go’s aid to fire victims in Davao City continues

Regardless of the number of beneficiaries, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go’s distribution of financial aid to fire victims continues.

The senator was in Davao City on September 22, 2020 to extend financial aid and grocery packs to  15 individuals with houses totally damaged due to fire  happened on September 14, 2020, in Cory Village,  Barangay Governor Paciano Bangoy in Dacudao, Agdao.

The distribution of financial assistance, food packs, medicines, vitamins, face mask, and faceshield was held at the said barangay’s covered court.

“Suot lang mo ug face shield. Cooperate lang mo sa gobyerno. Kung naa na vaccine seguraduhon gyud ang mga pobre ang mauna sa vaccine,” he said.

The Senator also gave out bicycles to selected recipients to promote the use of safe alternative modes of transportation during the current health crisis. However, he also advised them to take extra precaution when using their bicycles.

Representatives from various agencies, such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Department of Labor and Employment,  National Housing Authority, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and City Social Services and Development Office were also present during the distribution.

“Kinausap ko ang DSWD na magbibigay ng financial assistance sa inyo, ang NHA para magbigay ng pambili ng housing materials, at ibang pang mga ahensya ay tutulong rin. Hindi po kayo pababayaan sa oras ng inyong pangangailangan,” said Go.

Health protocols, such as social distancing and wearing of masks, were strictly followed by attendees and officials present during the distribution of assistance to avoid the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Go expressed optimism that the situation in the country will eventually return to normal. He also urged the residents to continue cooperating with the government and showing their concern for their fellow Filipinos so the country can easily bounce back from the health crisis.

“Tulungan lang tayo at ingat po. Itong nangyayari sa atin na krisis, malalagpasan din natin ito. Sana makabalik na tayo sa dating normal, dating normal na pwede natin yakapin ang mga kapatid nating Pilipino,” he added.
