The Consulate General of the Republic of China in Davao is urging Chinese technological giants, Huawei, Alibaba and China telecom to cooperate even closer with local government units (LGUs) and enterprises in Mindanao in terms of e-commerce and information communication technology (ICT).

Consul General Li Lin said both companies, Alibaba and Huawei, are important for smart city design and building providers.

“Alibaba in e-commerce,  Huawei in 5G and big data, both companies are important for smart city design and build providers,” he said in a text message.

It is also expected that these companies can provide tailor made suggestions and solutions for modern agriculture development.

Lin said an economic consul will arrive in his office soon.

“Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi is visiting Manila these two days at the invitation of Secretary Locsin. I’m sure there will be more ideas and  more concrete projects for bilateral cooperation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lin’s office is also preparing for a support program for the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Mindanao by donating some patrol motorcycles.

He said they are eyeing to hand over 40 motorcycles and are still working on the details as to which cities they will be sent.

The motorcycles are expected to arrive in Davao end of this month.

“We plan to arrange a handover after customs clearance, which is supported by Davao City Government. The City Government of Davao has been helping my office in these arrangements,” he said.
