Davao City Covid-19 Task Force spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser bared that the city government of Davao is now close to achieving its target of vaccinating 15,000 Dabawenyos a day to help in achieving herd immunity.

“Duol-duol nata sa target nga magbakuna ug 15,000 vaccinees a day because we have created a technical group for that to achieve the target. Nagplano na ug pinaka the best na ways to achieve that,” Schlosser said on Friday.

Last Month, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio pronounced that the city will be ramping up its daily vaccination from 10,000 to 15,000 vaccinees per day to achieve the targeted herd immunity before the end of this year.

The city government has opened more vaccination sites and implemented sectoral vaccination as strategies to help achieve the target.

“Hopefully, in the days to come, ma-roll out na pud na siya kay mao na ang pinaka aim sa atong mayor para maka achieve dayon ta ug herd immunity. Kitang tanan nagtinabangay, ang atong mobile vaccinations headed by the city councilors, ang atoang district health officers na naay kanya-kanyang vaccination sites and we are opening our People’s Park pud for those gusto mag walk in,” Schlosser said.

Meanwhile, the city has piloted the “Bakuna Nights” at San Roque Elementary School on September 23, 2021, and has drawn positive reception from Dabawenyos as 588 individuals get vaccinated.

The holding of “Bakuna Nights,” which is targeting individuals who cannot go to vaccination hubs during daytime, especially those who are working, is part of the city’s innovative means to cover more people in its vaccination drive.

“With this reception, ipadayon siguro nato ning Bakuna Nights, for now kasi nag pilot testing pata og two days but definitely since we had good reception of people, so ipadayon nato siya,” Schlosser said.

Based on the record of the Vaccination Cluster, as of September 21, 2021, there are a total of 702,170 individuals vaccinated for the first dose and 536,198 for the second dose. The city aims to vaccinate 1.2 million individuals by November this year.
