City Tourism Officer Generose Tecson reminded operators of resorts and party venues in Davao City to control their guests as the city is still under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions.
Tecson announced this following the closure of two resorts in Daliao, Toril on Sunday by the Business Bureau for operating without business permits and accepting social events, which also violates the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) omnibus guidelines for areas under GCQ with heightened restrictions classifications.
“We are in the middle of a surge, the worst we’ve ever experienced. All protocols are also in place. It is now the responsibility of people to follow. We are all in this together. We have to be responsible for each other. Venues should be the ones to control their guests, that is their responsibility,” Tecson said.
Based on the IATF for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, allowed in areas under GCQ with “heightened restrictions” are essential travel; indoor dine-in services at 20% venue or seating capacity or al fresco dining at 50 percent of the venue or seating capacity; outdoor tourist attractions may reopen at 30% with strict adherence to minimum public health standards.
Religious gatherings and gatherings for necrological services, wakes, inurnment, and funerals for those who died of causes other than COVID-19 at 10 percent of the venue capacity; non-contact sports, games scrimmages held outdoors; personal care services not requiring mask removal such as salons, parlors beauty clinics at 30% capacity; and individuals aged 18 to 65 going out of their residences.
Entertainment venues (bars, concert halls, theaters, etc.), recreational venues (internet cafés, billiard halls, arcades, etc.), amusement parks, fairs, playgrounds, kiddie rides, indoor sports courts and venues, and indoor tourist attractions, and venues for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions will not be allowed in GCQ areas with “heightened restrictions”.
The city government of Davao is reminding Dabawenyos to stop attending social gatherings and vigils in fear of bringing home the virus because the majority of the Covid-19 cases in Davao City are due to the household transmission after a family member attended a gathering.
