Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., reportedly met in Cebu City on Saturday.
Mayor Sara confirmed this on her Facebook page.
“Confirmed po na nagkita kami ngayon lang ni Presidential aspirant at former Senator BBM sa masayang pagdiriwang ng birthday ni Cong. Yedda, maybahay ni House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez sa Cebu,” the mayor posted.
After not being seen by the public for a few days since October 8, 2021, Mayor Sara stirred up the social media anew after posting her arrival in Cebu City in a green hoodie with “Sara All” print on Friday afternoon.
Mayor Sara affirmed also in her Mayor Inday Sara Duterte Facebook Page her visit to Cebu and her talk to her cousin Cebu 5th District Board Member Red Duterte.
“Magandang gabi sa inyong lahat. Confirmed po ang aking pagbisita sa Cebu. Kausap ko ngayon ang aking pinsan na si Cebu 5th District Board Member Red Duterte. Maraming salamat,” the mayor posted on October 22, 2021.
This was based on the post by Peter Tiu Laviña, convener of the group Sara All Philippines 2022, stating that “Mayor Sara just took off onboard PR2366 bound for Cebu; BBM is in Cebu and also information Speaker Lord Velasco is on his way to Cebu.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Sara’s political spokesperson Liloan Mayor Christina Garcia-Frasco bared that the mayor’s official schedule in Cebu City was to attend the general assembly of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines Cebu.
“I invited Mayor Sara to attend the inauguration of our new port in Liloan and to attend our League of Municipalities of the Philippines Cebu general Assembly. This is her official schedule,” Frasco said in a text message.
It was Mayor Sara’s first trip after recovering from Covid-19. She announced that she was going into isolation after contracting Covid-19 last October 10, 2021.
Despite the persistent calls for her to run for president in the 2022 elections, Mayor Sara did not give in to the call and did not withdraw her filed certificate of candidacy (COC) as mayor of Davao City.
