DTI to conduct surprise inspection in Davao City

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that it will conduct a surprise inspection in Davao City.

In an advisory issued by the regional office of DTI (DTI 11), Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Ronnel O. Abrenica, together with the monitoring team from the DTI-Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau and DTI 11 (Regional and Davao City offices), will conduct a surprise inspection and monitoring within Buhangin area on November 11, 2021.

The activity aims to inspect 87 products covered under the mandatory certification scheme, with a primary focus on construction materials.

This is in line with the upcoming consumer protection activity, the DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) – Regional Operations Group (ROG) joint monitoring, enforcement, and media campaign.

In May 2016, DTI released the list of products that are required to undergo mandatory certification to ensure their performance quality in conformity with the Philippine National Standards (PNS) before they become available in the market.

These are the products that affect the life, safety, and health of people and the environment.

The list included household appliances, lamps and related products, wiring devices, wires and cables, mechanical/building and construction materials, chemicals, and other consumer products.
