Tarlac joins ‘Green’ Program, gets 10,000 giant bamboos

The Province of Tarlac will get 10,000 bagged propagules of the Giant Bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper) as it becomes one of the newest provinces to join the Green Philippines Advocacy which Senatoriable Emmanuel “Manny” Fantin Piñol had initiated as a personal advocacy.

Piñol made the commitment to help Tarlac start its Green Bamboo Program during the recently concluded National Assembly of the Reformed Philippine Guardians Brotherhood, Inc. which was attended by Vice Governor Carlos David, Victoria Mayor Christian Tell Yap and Pura Mayor Freddie Domingo.

“The Giant Bamboo Program was one of the activities which I offered to RPGBI as its social and environmental activity.Upon hearing of the program, Vice Gov. David expressed interest in undertaking the Giant Bamboo Program in Tarlac, a request which I granted with a commitment of 10,000 propagules,” he said.

Tarlac Governor Susan Yap, who arrived after the ceremonial turned over of Green Bamboo propagules to Vice Gov. David, on behalf of the provnce, and RPGBI represented by Ronjie Daquigan, expressed appreciation for the inclusion of her province in the Green Philippines Advocacy.

The Giant Bamboo Program aims to bring back the foliage in many deforested areas of the country while at the same time initiating the birth of the Bamboo Processing Industry for furniture and construction materials.
