PAL Express, previously named Airphil Express, is ramping up its operations by embarking on recruitment activity in Davao City today (Sept. 10).
Dubbed PAL Express Recruitment Day to be held at JIB IMS campus in De Jesus St, Davao City, the Davao leg of the three-stage recruitment tour is open to all aspirants in Davao City.
“PAL Express is ramping up its operations thus we need more cabin crew to man our flights. Aside from recruiting in Manila, we would like to reach out to qualified aspirants in North Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao and give them an equal opportunity to get employed. We are bringing the fulfillment of their dream closer to them. As the saying goes ‘if the Mountain won’t go to Mohammed, then Mohammed must come to the Mountain’,” said Leonides V. Peña, assistant vice president/director for inflight services and training department of PAL Express in an interview.
PAL Express is collaborating with JIB International Schools for the Davao leg of the tour. The company conducted hiring activity in General Santos City last month.
Peña said the airline is eyeing hiring 50 applicants from the Mindanao recruitment events and hiring a total of 250 applicants nationwide.
“We are doubling our number because of the pandemic we have to let go some of our crew because their operations during the pandemic are only up to 30 percent from the pre-pandemic operations. We have to let go and now that we have to ramp up our operations then we have to recall first those who would like to come back and hire fresh applicants,” he said.
Aside from having a pleasant personality as a qualification, there is also a height requirement: ladies 5’2, gentlemen 5’6. When it comes to educational attainment before applicants have to have a college degree but this time the airline flexed it to a second-year college level. Applicants must also be good at communicating in English.
“You don’t have to be pageant material, you have to be pleasant to the passengers. One thing that we require for the applicants is for them to be able to communicate in English. Ultimately what we look for in candidates is humility as it is the only way you can give genuine buong pusong alaga to our customers,” he said.
PAL Express is planning to make this cabin crew recruitment tour of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao become a yearly event.
PAL Express is a full-service and low-cost carrier based in the Philippines. It is a codeshare partner and fully owned subsidiary of Philippine Airlines (PAL).
