Feeling sick? Do symptoms monitoring: Covid-19 TF

If you feel sick with influenza-like (ILI), take a real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test to be safe and not infect housemates, friends, and colleagues.

That’s the friendly reminder of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, advised individuals who have ILI not to go to their workplaces and schools and avoid putting their loved ones, colleagues, and friends at risk of getting infected.

Schlosser said this after she recently demonstrated ILI.

“Lo and behold wala pa after two days pa ko nakapa RT-PCR test, giuna nako ang quarantine because dili gyud nako kaya ang kasakit sa akong lawas, and almost having a fever 24 hours straight ug wala siya nagbaba. After ko nag RT-PCR test lo and behold nagpositive ko. Kung irresponsable ko na tao and I still went on with my training and seminar luoy kaayo ang mga nasakyan nako na taxi, luoy kaayo akong nakauban sa trabaho, I will be putting the community. That is what we call symptoms monitoring. Ikaw na mismo mag quarantine sa imong sarili and take RT-PCR test,” she said.

She also urged each Dabawenyo to be a good example for everyone and be responsible enough in managing their symptoms so it does not get worse.

“Have your RT-PCR test right away para makabalo mo if you are infectious or not. Kung muingon ta karon na wala man koy kaila or nakahalubilo na positive sa Covid pero you will never know daghan kaayo galakaw lakaw karon na posibleng asymptomatic lang. Swerte lang kung dili maigo imong pamilya. Bad things can actually happen, as much as possible mitigate the risk of having a more problematic situation specially things that will lead to death like Covid-19,” she said.

Davao City’s Covid-19 Cluster Clinics (CCC), district health offices, and barangay health stations continue offering medical consultations for people who are experiencing Influenza-like-Illnesses (ILIs) and free swabbing.
