The Davao City Covid-19 Task Force is appealing to parents and guardians of the pediatric population aged 5 to 11 years old age to get them vaccinated.
Dr. Michelle Schlosser, spokesperson of the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force, reported that vaccination output among the pediatric population in Davao City remains low.
“I want the parents to understand and consider having their children vaccinated kay as of November mubo gihapon ang atong output on our vaccination among pediatric population,” she said over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR).
Schlosser said data shows that there are unvaccinated pediatric patients who died because of Covid-19.
“I don’t know what data that you need pero for that past few weeks naay mga datus nga naga show that there are pediatric patients na mamatay because of Covid-19 and most of them are unvaccinated. Unta dili nato hulaton nga daghan pa ang mamatay because Covid-19 is already preventable. Kung dili man nato ma-prevent ang transmission of disease ang puwede nato ma prevent is ang kamatayon because of Covid-19. It will be done by having your vaccines as well as shared accountability and responsibility towards our health dapat kabalo gyud ta kung unsa ang risko sa atoang kinabuhi pati na sa atoang mga loved ones. Again naay leniency sa atoang mga health protocols but at the end of the day it still your choice kung unsaon nimo pag protekta sa imong sarili as well as your loved ones,” she said.
Schlosser earlier reminded the parents to have their children vaccinated amid the recent deaths of two kids, who were among the nine unvaccinated mortality in Davao City due to Covid-19 from October 23 to 29, 2022.
She said that of the 10 recorded deaths, one belonged to the five to 11 age group while another was from the 12 to 17 age bracket – all eligible for the government’s free anti-Covid-19 vaccination program.
Meanwhile, the Vaccination Cluster is also intensifying vaccination rollout to 5 to 11 years old. In coordination with the Department of Education 11 (DepEd) 11, it is now also conducting vaccination in public schools every Friday.
