The city government of Davao recognized 235 personnel who took part in relief operations in areas affected by severe tropical storm Paeng and heavy rains that ravaged parts of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Cotabato City and other parts of Southwestern Mindanao.
The personnel, who were recognized during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony, represents the offices that were involved during the operations namely City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (47), City Social Welfare and Development Office (37), City Health Office (10), City Engineer’s Office (27), Ancillary Services Unit (48), Davao City Police Office (44), Task Force Davao (18) and City Information Office(4).
“Again ang city government of Davao through Mayor Baste Duterte mapasalamaton sa atong mga kaubanan nga bisan pa man sa mga panghitabo kinahanglan tabangan even beyond Davao City andam gyud na mutabang ug daghan kaayong salamat kaninyo. Hinaut sa umaabot pa nga mga adlaw wala man nato gina wish nga magpadayon ang pag-abot sa mga kalamidad ug needed pa gyud ang atong assistance ug voluntarism naa lang gihapon ta ug ready ta nga mu-extend sa atong help,” said Harvey Lanticse, officer-in-charge of the City Information Office (CIO) over Davao City Disaster Radio (DCDR) on Tuesday.
Last month, the city sent batches of welfare goods to Cotabato City and Maguindanao and deployed trucks to the said areas, carrying boxes of welfare goods, medicines, sleeping kits, and hygiene kits from the city government, the Philippine Coast Guard, and private donors.
The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office also sent psychologists and social workers to assist in the psychosocial intervention of the affected individuals. Personnel from DCPO and Task Force Davao were also deployed to help in the distribution of goods.
