Stakeholders in the Province of Cotabato are now gearing for the establishment of a Banana Flour Processing Plant at the Cotabato Agro-Industrial Park (CAIP) in Barangay Pag-asa, M’lang, Cotabato.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) conducted a Banana Industry Stakeholders Consultation Dialogue on November 29, 2022 at the Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City, which aims to find out the estimated volume of the annual banana production of the provision to ensure that the supply of bananas is sufficient for the operation of the said plant.
The dialogue was attended by stakeholders that include banana producers, traders and processors from various towns in the province.
This undertaking is part of the efforts of the provincial government under the leadership of Governor Emmylou “Lala” T. Mendoza to implement the CAIP project and help farmers in the province including the banana industry, which is recognized as one of the top agricultural commodities of the province.
“Sa pamamagitan ng pagpupulong mapag-usapan at mapagtuunan ng pansin ang mga suliranin ng industriya ng saging at upang maging matagumpay ang pagpapatupad ng Banana Flour Processing Plant sa lalawigan. Tanging hangarin nito ay ang maprotektahan ang kapakanan ng bawat magsasaka at matulungan na madagdagan ang kanilang kita,” Mendoza said.
In support of the governor’s program of promoting and protecting the banana industry, livestock, poultry and other commodities against any disease that may enter the province, two resolutions are planned to be passed by the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC): resolution requesting Department of Public Work and Highways (DPWH) to allow provincial government or Department of Agriculture (DA) to construct a quarantine facility along the entry points of the Province of Cotabato and the resolution to fully support the the establishment of Banana Flour Processing Plant at the Cotabato Agro-Industrial Park.
