Maintaining a safe community is among the priority programs of the First Congressional District Office in Davao City and one of them is ensuring residents’ safety against fire.
Davao City First Congressional District Representative Paolo Duterte boosted the fire safety efforts of residents of fire-prone S.I.R. Village in Matina by turning over the newly constructed fire station on February 17, 2023 in Pag-asa Street, S.I.R New Matina, Davao City.
Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, son of Rep. Duterte and grandson and namesake of former president Rodrigo Duterte, led the turnover ceremony of the facility that is expected to improve advocacy of fire prevention in the said community.
In his message read by Rigo, Rep. Duterte said the new fire station will boost the strength of the hardworking firefighters in battling fires that could damage properties and harm persons within the many densely populated areas around S.I.R.
“Now that you have this new fire station, I hope you will take really good care of this facility and all the firefighting equipment and accessories within your possession,” he said.
He said that the inauguration is timely as the people will be observing Fire Prevention Month in just a little over a month from now.
Rep. Duterte congratulated the Bureau of Fire Protection for having this newly-constructed S.I. R Fire Station.
On his end, Rigo said preventative measures are effective when used and he is hoping that the new facility will provide the residents of S.I.R the support they need to take the initiative in their neighborhood to advocate for greater fire prevention activities.
The turnover ceremony was graced by officials from the Bureau of Fire Protection-Davao Region namely District Fire Marshall FSupt. Anastacio Jusay Jr. and BFP-Davao regional director FSSupt Richard Arbutante.
